Buttocks

Fat may be removed from the buttock area to reduce the posterior bulge. The use of smaller instruments here is vital to prevent the "bottom droop" caused by the disruption of the fine ligaments which support the buttocks (and which stretch naturally with age). A small number of people have a large fatty deposit in the midline at the top of the buttocks. This responds well to liposculpture.

There is currently a trend toward the "Jennifer Lopez" larger bottom, but for many people a smaller bottom is still to be prefered.
In the past liposuction of the lower bottom area was not uncommonly complicated by damage to the tiny ligamentous structures that support the bottom.  This led to a "bottom drop".  Tumescent liposculpture combined with the use of microcannulae protect these structures which has eliminated this complication.
